OUR CURRENTÂ CAMPAIGNÂ FOR 2021-22
AFGHANISTAN
For the 2021-22 academic year, our focus is on raising awareness and advocating support to the current Afghan refugees. Furthermore, we aim to support Afghan women's fight to reclaim their rights and celebrate tradition through supporting campaigns such as #DoNotTouchMyClothes.
"Afghan refugees must be admitted not because they fill an economic void or fulfill a white saviour fantasy but because they are American made." - Khaled Beydoun

Seeking Refuge:
2.2 million Afghan refugees were forced to flee to neighbouring countries in previous years. The Taliban takeover of Kabul has resulted in more than 3.5 million internally displaced Afghans.

Women's Rights:
Under Taliban rule, women are not allowed to leave the house without being accompanied by a male relative. Burqas are imposed and female voices on TV and radio channels are banned. There was a women's rights protest in Kabul which the Taliban broke off by using tear gas and firing shots.

#DoNotTouchMyClothes:
Currently, there is an online campaign called "#DoNotTouchMyClothes" which was started by Bahar Jalali, an Afghan in protest against the Taliban's dress code for female students. The Taliban's new higher education minister announced that female students would only attend gender separate class in University under certain dress codes. This campaign aims for Afghan women to fight to reclaim their identity and celebrate tradition.

OUR 2020-21 CAMPAIGNS
UYGHURS MUSLIMS IN XINJIANG
For the 2020-21 academic year, our focus is upon raising awareness and campaigning against the gross human rights abuses committed by the Chinese state against Uyghur and Turkic Muslims in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
Since 2017, the Chinese state has pursued aggressive assimilationist policies directed against Turkic Muslims, particularly Uyghurs. This has ranged from the use of kindergartens, where Uyghur children are taken from their families and sheltered from their culture, to forced sterilisations, internment camps, physical and psychological violence, systematic raping of Uyghur women and forced labour.
